| The list of multi-platinum, award-winning artists and producers speckling Lauren Evans' resume is uncannily long for her age. Already to her credit, the 21-year-old singer/songwriter has performed and written for the likes of Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Angie Stone, Andrae Crouch, Charlotte Church, rock legend Mick Fleetwood, and super producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Gifted with outstanding natural ability at a very young age, Lauren began touching many with her incredible voice as she sang in church with her family’s ministry. A natural progression from her gospel roots, she has toured domestically and abroad with Pastor Greg Laurie (Harvest Crusades), Franklin Graham Ministries and motivational speaker Lakita Garth. Her voice gained national exposure with standout songs like "You're Worthy of My Praise" (iWorship/Maranatha Music) and "Thy Will" from the companion album to Rick Warren’s best-selling book The Purpose Driven Life. Through childhood friend and producer/artist Bobby Ross Avila, Lauren was introduced to the production team of Buster & Shavoni (Kirk Franklin) who were readying the soundtrack to the DreamWorks film The Prince Of Egypt (1998). Lauren was tapped as the only new artist featured alongside recordings from CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Boyz II Men, Jars Of Clay, Brian McKnight, and more. Her self-penned "Didn’t I" garnered a Stellar nomination for Female Contemporary Artist of the Year the following spring. As more of the industry caught wind of Lauren’s abilities, she quickly became in demand as a vocalist, songwriter and arranger. Constantly adding to her list of accomplishments, Lauren has recorded with producer Walter Afanasieff (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey), written for Brandy with Robbie Nevil and producer Rex Rideout (Luther Vandross, Angie Stone, Boney James) and written for the queen of R&B Aretha Franklin with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Continuing work with the duo, Lauren can be heard backing up R&B singer Mya on her blockbuster album Moodring as well as gospel recording artist Yolanda Adams on her forthcoming 2004 release. She is also a featured vocalist with Grammy award winner Boney James ("Thinking About Me") and jazz artists Will Downing and Everett Harp on their spring 2004 releases. Lauren is currently pursuing a career as a solo artist behind the success of her song "Brighter Days". Co-written with Rex Rideout, the song was included in the box office hit The Fighting Temptations. As revered as she is among her musical and professional peers, Lauren remains focused on what matters most to her. " I believe music unites, inspires and touches people in ways no other medium can. I hope to share what God has given me to make a positive impact. To share the timeless message of faith hope and love.” Look out for new music from Lauren coming soon and a full-length album in Summer 2004! |
